"An excellent holiday"

****

Coming home was the biggest disappointment...

We felt this was an excellent hotel, comprising nine blocks of accommodation. All were adequately furnished, clean and spacious. Staff were excellent throughout, from reception to bar to restaurant. On reading other reviews we had provided for using the two 'premium' restaurants, however, we didn't need to as the quality and quantity of food in the buffet was simply first class. It's true on occasions the soup was lukewarm and the beans could have been hotter, but when you have over 1200 guests it must be difficult to make sure everything is just so.

But this was the exception rather than the rule. There was an unbelievable amount of choice and some of it was cooked before your eyes. There were always clean and set tables whatever time we went and the staff quickly cleared up when people left. You could also help yourself to drinks, mainly in paper cups, which we found did leak!

The hotel is on a hill, but you soon realise what a lovely location it is. From back gate to beach takes about five minutes and the beach is superb with not an iota of seaweed or rubbish on it. It really was magnificent and we walked it every day in lovely warm sunshine. A word of warning for those who are senstiive to nakedness. Nudism is accepted on the island and there were many naturists about doing their thing, though many kept back from the water's edge.

Back to the hotel, there were many swimming pools, all very cold, what seemed like hundreds of sunbeds and we never saw anyone having to search for somewhere to lay down. If you were all inclusive, you could use the snackbar which provided just that - snacks and drinks from noon to 6pm. You could also get drinks at the pool bar during the day.

So to the entertainment....parrott show, 'incredible' dancing show, flamenco show, etc . All absolute mind-numbing rubbish. Happily, that type of fun does suit some people, so we left them to it and headed to the more convivial piano bar where you could even get your drinks served in a glass as opposed to a paper cup. Overall, we couldn't find too much to grumble about, what wasn't perfect didn't really affect our holiday.

It should be pointed out the complex was hilly, but they brought our cases to our room and collected them within a minute of asking, all of which saved our energy. Clearly, if you struggle up the stairs it is not for you. Finally, the resort is a 10 minute walk along the main road from the back gate, and we went into town several times. On your way back collect any supplies you may need from the Spar shop near the lifts, because it is much cheaper than the hotel shop.

I will be happy to answer any questions or elaborate on matters I have touched on...enjoy your holiday, we did.
