I never go anywhere twice. . . the world is too big. But for a winter break I have no doubt Sharm and LTI Grand Azure will get another visit from me.
I feel for all those who felt short changed by this hotel, but our party, four of us, couldn't find fault if we tried. A magnificent hotel, with superb service from some excellent hard working young staff.
The holiday was set from the moment we entered the magnificent reception area...and it just got better. We enjoyed the four superb specialist restaurants five nights, and used the main dining room twice. That was busy on out first night, and upstairs was being refurbished so alot more bodies about. The other time was for the midnight meal after we returned from Cairo. A bit canteenish, true, but lots of choice. We queued to book for the specialist dining rooms but always got what we wanted and they did not seem full. I reckon more than 700 people can be accommodated over two sittings in all four each night.
The accommodation was top class, and our patios practically opened onto one of the pools. Sunbeds were not a problem and we rarely had to queue more than a couple of minutes for a drink. The Grand Azure is large, but beautifully presented and choice of places to eat at lunchtime were threefold. The beach is shingle but the facilities to sunbathe include windbreaks and there is the lengthy pier for snorkellers to get into the deeper water. It is very shallow for hundreds of yards, and I would say perfectly safe for youngsters. The hotel offered excellent facilities all round to suit four adults and there was the usual entertainment for children. If you wanted to go to Naam Bay there was a free bus service offered by the hotel at regular intervals. Last one back was after 2AM.
Worth mentioning only one pool was heated, the others were freezing, and the adult entertainment was unbearably rubbish, but that did not concern us. There are alot of other foreigners there, from Czech Republic and Russia, mainly, but they got on with their holiday. If you are a party or two families I commend rooms 5101 and 5120 to you, they are a pair in a junior suite which we were upgraded to. We had a fantastic time and would heartily recommend Grand Azure, it was magnificent from start to finish... oh, the weather from March 8 to 15 was mainly excellent with temps upto 84f and warm at night.
Couple of tips....Sharm airport is a nightmare, specially on Thursdays when the brits come in and out and same again when you go home. Be prepared to be stressed out big time. When you arrive go and get a visa for £12 if you intend to go to Cairo or anywhere outside of Sharm, then go to passport control. You will find young people standing outside the toilets asking for money, don't pay. The toilets are free, they are robbing you. Similarly, when you get to the coach beware the bloke who asks for money to lift your bags into the hold...he is not the driver and will take your £1 and run. Do tip staff at the hotel, they never forget...our best waiter even slipped us drinks after our all inclusive had run out as a thanks for the small amount we gave him. Two of us did get upset stomach, probably from the flies on the food but it didn't keep up down. One of those things. We went on a terrific day trip to Cairo with Gatt Tours of Cairo...flying from Sharm by Egypt air at 6.50am back at 11.30pm. Fantastic day out for £128 plus light show admittance. You can find Gatt tours on google, but out party comprised of just six people, making it perfect.
